The Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act, or SNPLMA, allows the Bureau of Land Management to sell public land within a specific boundary around the Las Vegas Valley.

Since the act became law in October 1998, 20 land auctions have been conducted, generating more than $2 billion. A portion of the revenue is available tfor parks, trails and natural areas in Clark County.

With more than 40 parks and 23.6 miles of trails, Henderson currently has more parks and recreation facilities per capita than any other Southern Nevada community. The City's open space plan includes more than 335 acres of new parks and open spaces funded in-part by the SNPLMA program, including 33.6 miles of trails to be added over the next five years. More than 117 miles of trails are planned when the City is fully built out. In total, the City has been awarded over $200 million in funding for more than 30 parks and trails projects to meet the challenge of a growing community and a changing demographic interested in outdoor recreation.

The City of Henderson, together with the Senior Citizens Advisory Commission, is developing an overall strategic plan to enhance programs and services for Henderson's seniors. Learn more...
